Trampolines are not supposed to fly.

It was a pretty windy day. So windy that my jeep was blowing all over the road. It’s windy here a lot and it sure seems to me that it’s windier now than it was when I was a kid. Maybe it’s due to global warming. Maybe it’s because so many woods have been cleared and there is nothing left to break the wind. Or, perhaps its windier because of those giant fans that have been installed in part of the county?

Who knows why? But I still was a little surprised when I turned into my driveway just in time to see what I thought was a huge bird flying across our back yard. I only had that thought for a fleeting second before I realized that wasn’t a bird. It was our trampoline!

That’s never happened before because we had it screwed into the ground with huge corkscrew dog tie outs and the framed strapped to the tie outs. But, there it was. Flying across our back yard.

I jumped out of the jeep and ran to see if I could snag it before it crashed into something. But it was gone. Nowhere in sight!

I walked down the hill and found a long scrape where it hit the ground. Then I followed the trail of springs toward the creek. It had blown down the banks and into the fast flowing water from all the rain we’ve had recently.
