Stay in your niche.

That is what society tells us to do, know your role in the world and don't try to change it or get out of your lane. People won't like you then, or know how to react to you.

If that is what it takes to be a "successful" writer on medium, I may never be one. Because I do not believe stereotypes. Nor do I believe I should behave, or in this case, write something just because that is what I am expected to do.

I think it helped clarify things in my own mind. I want to be a “successful” writer. But I do not want it enough to conform.

I will just be me, and if “they” don’t like me, so be it. I will keep writing anyway.

PS. you got me thinking, so I bought your book. There is no spoon.
