Land Of The Free?

Is America the “Land of the free” anymore?

Not so much…

In theory, our rights don’t disappear in an emergency. And it didn’t start with the coronavirus.

In 2005, the New York Times reported that the NSA was tapping phone calls of regular Americans without a warrant. Blatantly illegal. And I would be surprised if it wasn’t still going on.

Technology allows anyone with a cell phone to be track. They can tell exactly where you are and what you are doing.

You can turn those features off, you say? To quote a Michael Jackson song, “You keep dreamin”.

Due to 9/11 the Patriot act was enacted.

Only temporary due to an emergency, you say?

Once they have a power over you, do you really think they will give it up?

Several provisions of The Patriot Act were set to expire in 2005. And then, congress reauthorized the law, as is, without even tweaking the most abused sections.

Then, the Real ID Act was passed requiring states to “standardize” drivers’ licenses and link to a national database that is shared with every federal, state, and local government across the entire country.

I’m sure that is only used to help people. (yes, that was sarcasm.)
